PYRAGRAF's primary focus will be on enhancing the value of agricultural and forestry residues by transforming them into high-value products like biochar and wood vinegar. Portugal, Germany, and Turkey has been selected as the pilot regions because in these countries, above mentioned products play a crucial role in addressing the deterioration of agroecosystems due to climate change impacts. Given the anticipated progression of soil and water degradation in these countries due to increased climate variability, there is a pressing need for innovative solutions to be explored and established.

Additionally, PYRAGRAF will leverage the abundant solar irradiation in these regions to facilitate the conversion of biomass through pyrolysis, utilizing renewable energy sources. This approach will contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions in the local agriculture and forestry sectors.
